Great post! It is like reading my husbands account of our last year with baby - she is 13 months now. The only difference being we've had to do it all without Grandparents as they live in the UK, which has added to our challenges. However, we survived and can't wait for what the future holds for us as a family :)

Absolutely. Wouldn't trade pre baby time for post baby time. The significance of being in the daddy club has been very rewarding for me, and it was pretty instant that I got that sense. All of a sudden I had a major life changing experience in common with tons of men that I respected. I felt transformed by the experience. I read somewhere that a guy's hormone levels change dramatically during the birthing time - testosterone levels go down - and I wonder if that was the sensation I felt of nurturance and close family softness. I remember being totally blissed out at times just before birthing time. I would hug my wife and get a major hit of Calm Vibe. Yup. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

Great write up - I would also add that as a mother having time off and talking about things that you didn't expect (poo / spinach / types of spoons) and changing from intellectual work to busy sleep deprived work, can alter self-confidence and self-worth. Being aware and sensitive to that change from your partner can go a long way.
Happy Birthday to your girl - I'd love to see the 2 year old write up when she learns how to defy her Daddy :)
